We are the church.

Go back and read that again. We are the Church. We. It’s not about an individual. It’s about all of us, together, striving to be more like Jesus in all we say and do.

We believe that Jesus was pretty clear about His values and we realize that if we’re going to follow Him, like really follow Him, we’ve got to be pretty clear about our values too.

“You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.”

- Matthew 22:37

“Equally important: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’”

-Matthew 22:39

We were made by God to love and be loved. When we embrace that perfect love of God through Christ, we’re able to live in that love. Like really, fully live. So when Jesus says to put the love of God before everything else, we want to live that out.

Jesus didn’t mess around about this one. He came to serve and love; therefore, we are here to serve and love. Just as Jesus was the hope of the world, we want to be part of the hope on earth as we love others.

Faith is scary. It dares us to step without knowing where we will land. It dares us to trust that God really does love us and really will guide us on this journey toward being more like Him. This faith challenges us to take Christ’s love to the world so that others can know His love.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

- Matthew 28:19

God transforms us as we share life together; not just the good life, but the real, nitty gritty parts of life too. The transformation to be more like Christ happens when we love each other through all of life.

“Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

- John 13:34-35

We want you to be able to experience the love of God in a real way.

We try our best to be real and authentic because we believe Jesus was real and authentic. So come as you are, whoever

and wherever you are. We're all on a journey and none of us have arrived yet.

Jeff Braasch

Executive Pastor

Jeff and his wife Janelle have been married for 20 years. They have three children; Kyra, Emmy and Noah.  Jeff joined the staff team at Lake Center after spending 20 years in the construction industry where he held several positions including owner, project manager and foreman.

“The transition from marketplace to ministry is something I always felt called to do but never knew what it would look like with my skill set. The Executive Pastor role is a great fit for me. I get to work behind-the-scenes in operations, as well as, coaching staff and ministry leaders to achieve success in what God has called them to do. That really is where my greatest passion lies; I want to see everyone fulfill the purpose God created them for.”

Perry Hostetler

Connections Pastor

Billy Creech

Senior Pastor

Billy has been married to his wife Ami for more than 20 years. Billy’s favorite vacation memory was the cruise that celebrated the 20th anniversary. On one excursion he had the chance to jump off a pirate ship and swim to the shore where lunch was waiting. This is a true story that he is more than happy to tell you about. He is a Dad to Ian and Gabe. He has held that position the entirety of their lives. Both kids attend Portage schools. Billy loves to speak and write words of love and life. The family spends their free time exploring and finding something they have never seen, watching movies, or anything else that Billy deems to be “not crappy.”  Prior to coming to Lake Center, Billy served in ministry in Oklahoma, Arizona, Texas, and Portugal.

Perry is the husband of but one wife, Jenna. Their quiver is close to full with four, high-energy boys. Some of his favorite things are learning, sports, games, people, and good food. He has a hard time sitting around too long and is known to have excited outbursts with phrases like “Let’s Go!”

Worship Arts Pastor

Shawn Seguin

Next Gen Pastor

Rev. Shawn Seguin, MTS, was born and raised in Texas and moved across the country to join the Lake Center team in July of 2015. Youth and young adult ministry has been his passion for the past 10 years. He loves writing music and poetry, discussing theology and philosophy, going to dinner and a movie with his wife, Kayla, and playing “lion” with his daughter, Miette. Shawn’s favorite kinds of movies are psychological thrillers, but he and his wife often settle on romantic comedies to keep peace, and because he secretly loves romantic comedies.

Musician, artist, dreamer, self-proclaimed guru of useless knowledge, husband, father, and geek pretty much sums up Steve Brubaker. Steve has been a part of our Lake Center staff since 2012 as our worship arts pastor. He brings a fresh new take on how we worship by infusing talented people and their artistic abilities in exciting new creative ways. We never know what Steve is going to dream up next. You may also catch him performing in a local theatre as he has a passion to reach our community through the theatrical world. “Kristy and I have been beyond blessed to find Lake Center for our family. We are free here to live out who God has called us to be.”

Dawn Heid started working for Lake Center in 2010, but her other job is carting around her three boys to the many activities they are involved in. She has had more than 20 years of marital bliss with her husband Ben. She enjoys music, reading, and going for a good walk. Her favorite thing about working with children and their leaders is to help them know that they are all uniquely made to play amazing roles in God’s story.

Morgan Teich joined our staff team as the Administrative Assistant in 2015. She is in her final year as a student at Liberty University getting her BS in Religion with a specialization in Christian Counseling. Since childhood, it has been her passion to walk alongside others during times of need. She is a wife to her adventure-seeking husband Chris, mother to her doggie-child Tyson, and sister to her vivacious friends and family. She loves baking for others, running with her dog, and traveling almost anywhere with her husband. She is excited to complete her education and create more incredible memories with her family and friends.

Kristen is naturally cautious yet always up for adventure. That’s why she eats kale. She has been called a Food Wizard, but only by her husband Chris. Her running bucket list includes traveling to six of the seven continents (not Antarctica, because being cold is one of Kristen’s least favorite things in the world), eating snails, learning how to make cheese, go scuba diving, be an extra in a TV show or movie, and finally get over her fear of jellyfish. She and Chris are excited to raise their twins in Portage and see what other adventures God has in store for their family.

What's on your mind?

Give us a shout and we'll get back to you. We'd love to hear from you.

Lake Center is committed to make disciples to impact the community and world. We do this by feeding the hungry, providing a safe and warm place for kids and students, and telling the story of God through exciting musicals and performances. Lake Center also supports and sends missionaries around the world to engage in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).

We believe giving is an act of worship (Philippians 4:18-19) and we believe that God cares about your heart when you give (2 Corinthians 9:6-15). Thanks for joining us in this act of worship by giving to Lake Center. And thanks for being a part of the mission to impact the community and world.
